Your substack has been a highlight of my year and I sincerely cherish your writing. Looking forward to whatever you get up to in 2025 :) Happy new year!
Jessica Pratt! So deserved! I'm a big fan of the J. Albert and Loidis albums too. Thanks for your writing this year Philip and God bless your mum. Merry Christmas when it comes.
ha, well said. looking forward to digging into the rest of this list. Jessica Pratt is particularly intriguing; any time you and Jeff Weiss align on an album I know it's gonna be worth my time.
Thanks for being brilliant all year Philip. You are such a force for good. Great choices and lots of overlap. For me the Nueen/Iceboy Violet and both Low End Activist albums probably top the lot. Have a peaceful holiday
The collective listening idea resonates with me a lot. It's been a pleasure reading your writing this year. I found a love for listening and discovering that I think had been lost for me for a while. Both your recommendations and accompanying writing contributed to that a lot. Enjoy the holidays and thanks for continuing to put time in to share with us.
The link on the Shane Parish track seems to be broken or something as Ornette’s Lonely Woman emerged. Suffice to say I was already over on Bandcamp getting the full suite. Thank you for this list and the generous and deep treatment of some great albums.
hurray for Jessica and Phillip, so love with your music review❤️

Love the Jessica Pratt and Stroom albums!
Thanks for this review! J.Abert’s album is my absolute favorite of this year.
what a year, what a review: thank you, as always, king 😭
Thank you, Kyle!
Total Blue became one of my favorites this year after reading your Pitchfork review.
The system works!

Grateful for the light that you shine on music that doesn’t live anywhere near the mainstream, much of this list has been the soundtrack to my year!
That Jessica Pratt album is amazing. My favorite of this year too.

Thank you, Mark! Yeah, those are also great records
nailed it with your words on Jessica Pratt.
I saw her twice this fall, in London at Barbican and in Berlin at Columbia Theatre.
there’s something so ghostly in her voice, it stays with you.
Here in the Pitch feels like her career crescendo thus far.

Huh, that's strange -- it's turning up OK for me! Anyway, thanks for letting me know and glad the list resonated!
Very generous write up, thank you! Lots to explore that you’ve shared here.
And Pratt’s video for “World on a String” was maybe my favorite music video of the year. A good haunting for me
